Hi, I'm Nicolas Null, a Software Developer at Epic Systems
Family: I am the oldest of 4 kids in my family. I have one brother and two sisters. My parents were both middle school teachers, but now my father is an elementary school principal and my mother is a stay-at-home mom.
High School: I graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. I ended up being 8th in my class of 314 graduates. I was a huge band nerd. I played alto, tenor and bari sax through my years there. My junior and senior year I was the drum major. My Senior year, my brother and I won the state balsa wood bridge building contest.
College: I started at WVU Tech majoring in Civil Engineering. In my sophomore year I decided to switch to Computer Science. I was a CS coding lab assistant, tutor, and research assistant. I graduated summa cum laude in May 2022.

Jobs in college: During my first 2 years of college, I had a summer internship at Alliance Consulting where I did land surveying and other consulting work. During my last summer, I did AI research work with one of my professors (published in IEEE) as well as was a mentor for the First2Network camp (a 2 week STEM class for upcoming college freshmen). Throughout the entirety of college, I ran a small mowing business with my brother and dad and I had a part-time janitor job at my church.
Career: I started working as a software developer at Epic Systems in July 2022. I am a part of the Payer Platform which is working with payers (insurance companies) communicating more seamlessly with providers (doctors/hospitals). Right now there is a lot of unnecessary administrative burden on both sides that my work will help automate.
